Fans of the television show will be familiar with this aardvark and his ongoing struggles with his family and friends. Children who love the television show (Arthur) will love this CD. The voices used for the show are here, and most of the songs have appeared in various episodes. Added bonuses for this CD is the title track as performed by Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers. This is fine reggae for the small set, and it starts the album off in fine form, setting the tone for the other bouncy songs to follow. Another world artist is also present: Varttina, who comes from Finland, performs a traditional Finnish tune, "Matalij Ja Mustii," which features an incredibly catchy tune that will stay in one's head long after the CD is finished. And Art Garfunkel makes an appearance, performing the moving (and funny) "The Ballad of Buster Baxter." His beautiful voice sails through the song, lending it an air of legitimacy. The songs are short and express chidren's frustrations with day-to-day life (such as homework, food they do not want to eat, night lights, friends) that most children will be able to identify with and will assist them in expressing themselves. The music is strong enough that parents will not tire of the CD on repeated listenings. And it is jammed with strong, positive morals and life lessons. This is a very good example of how strong, intelligent, and well-put-together children's music can be. The CD does not talk down to children (nor does the television show), but rather to and with children. ~ Aaron Badgley
