マイク・ケリーの〈ぬいぐるみシリーズ〉をジャケにした、『GOO』と並ぶメジャー時代の代表作。危ういほどに暴力性を秘めながら見事なまでに美しいノイズ、そしてポップネスを兼ね備え、ポピュラー音楽として成り立たせた、そのバランス加減が見事。かの名盤『Nevermind』製作直後で、キャリアのピークにあったブッチ・ヴィグをプロデューサーに迎え、アルバムから4曲のPVも制作(どれも必見!)。SYの混沌として奇怪な魅力が存分に味わえる。 (C)廣川奏
