1742年の初演以来、この「メサイア」は世界中で数限りなく上演され、人々を熱狂させて来ました。とりわけ遍く知れ渡った「ハレルヤ・コーラス」はこの作品のクライマックスであり、世界中の合唱団のスタンダードなレパートリーとして愛されています。この演奏はそんな「メサイア」の全体を深く掘り下げることで、聴き手もキリストの苦難を共に体験していきます。受胎告知、キリスト降誕、そして永遠の命。合唱団とソリストたちが暖かい音色で的確に歌っていきます。演奏しているのは、ベルギーの古楽器オーケストラ「バ'ロック」で、ここは最近流行の刺激的な演奏をするのではなく、暖かくまろやかな響きを奏でるアンサンブルです。
