Phish: Trey Anastacio (vocals, guitar); Page McConnell (vocals, piano, organ); Mick Gordon (vocals, bass); Jonathan Fishman (vocals, drums). Recorded at Archer Studios, Winooski, Vermont between May & December 1989.o LAWN BOY was difficult for fans to track down for a couple of years after its initial release, because its distributor went out of business almost immediately after its 1989 release. However, by the time Elektra reissued the album (along with its self-released predecessor JUNTA), Phish were already budding superstars on the nascent jam band circuit. Ironically, however, this obscure indie release is musically far more mainstream than the group's eventual major-label debut, A PICTURE OF NECTAR. Perhaps wanting to showcase a different side of the band than the loose, jam-oriented JUNTA, LAWN BOY primarily consists of skewed pop songs with quirky lyrics, like "Bouncing Around the Room." However, the album also includes the 12-minute epic "Reba," a longtime fan favorite that was one of Phish's most popular improvisational launching pads.

商品の紹介

This album is relaxed, friendly, and a lot of fun. It is their true statement of purpose, capturing Trey Anastasio's unique visions in their rawest form. "Reba," with its absurd lyrics, intricate design, and renegade momentum is one of their best moments, neatly summarizing the band's philosophy in 12 minutes. Anastasio may have played with greater force and potency later on, but his creative spark was rarely brighter than here, and he proves himself to be not only a student, but a master of many divergent styles. ~ Jim Smith
