Personnel includes: James Brown, Afrika Bambaataa, Aretha Franklin. The '80s weren't Brown's most creatively fertile period, but he made rather more good music during the decade than he's given credit for, as this nicely put together album proves persuasively. High points include two songs from movies (the anthemic "Living in America," from ROCKY IV, the medley of "Get Up Offa That Thing" with "Dr. Detroit"), an excellent funk workout with Aretha Franklin ("Gimme Your Love"), and an ace live version of the seminal "Cold Sweat." Warning: While listening to this CD, do not--repeat, not--attempt a drinking game involving Brown's use of the phrase "Hit me!"
