During the course of the summer months of 1979 Stephen Stills played a couple of shows in New York that seen in context of Stills' evolution are fascinating. The first show comes from Central Park on the 2nd of July 1979 and was broadcast live by WPLJ-FM. Stills is backed by his ‘California Blues Band' a group that included future CSN band member Mike Finnigan. The second concert took place on the 7th of September as part of the ‘Woodstock Reunion' held at Parr Meadows Racetrack in Brookhaven Long Island to mark the tenth anniversary of the legendary original festival. The set was broadcast live on FM radio by the King Biscuit Flower Hour and together with the Central Park concert represents a compelling document of Stephen Stills' career at the close of the 1970s one which finds him in excellent and reflective form as he returns to New York and the spirit of Woodstock in seeking to re-discover his voice ahead of the new decade.
