After years spent grinding their way through the 1990s indie circuit, ultimately it took just 21 minutes for Columbus, Ohio's Gaunt to prove themselves masters of melodic punk. Previous Gaunt releases SOB STORY and I CAN SEE YOUR MOM FROM HERE showcased their undeniable punk power, as well as their reputation as one of the angriest and most dysfunctional bands on the scene. But YEAH, ME TOO, which touted the addition of drumming phenomenon Sam Brown, is largely regarded by fans as the band's landmark release. Shortly after its release, Gaunt, drawing favorable critical comparisons to the Damned and the Buzzcocks, were courted by a flurry of major labels. The band ultimately signed with Warner Brothers in 1998 and released BRICKS AND BLACKOUTS.
Recorded and mixed in the course of a weekend, the 10 rapid-fire songs on YEAH, ME TOO stand as some of the best pop-punk songs ever recorded. From the opening title track, through "Now," "Justine," and the anthem of break-up hurt, "Breakin Down," singer and guitarist Jerry Wick doesn't just sing loud--he bellows, demanding to be heard.
録音 : ステレオ (Studio)
