The Voice and Guitar of PINK FLOYD、デヴィッド・ギルモアの2006年『オン・アン・アイランド』以来9年振りのニュー・アルバム『Rattle That Lock』。昨2014年ピンク・フロイドのラスト作『永遠(TOWA)』をリリースし全世界の話題をさらったのも記憶に新しいが、パッケージは『永遠(TOWA)』と同じような豪華仕様となる。デラックス・ヴァージョンのボーナスDVDには豪華ブックレットとともに、ポスター/ポストカード/ギター・ピックなどの特典満載、豪華ボックスに収納される。それぞれオーディオ・ヴィジュアル10曲の未発表映像、4曲の未発表バージョンも収録。「バーン・ジャム」(デヴィッド・ギルモアの自宅の納屋のスタジオでのジャム・セッション)の映像には、2008年9月15日に亡くなった元ピンク・フロイドのキーボーディスト、リチャード・ライトとの最後のセッションであり、最後の録音物となった映像を収録している(2007年1月のセッションより)。

レビュー

この9年ぶりのソロ作は、ピンク・フロイド『The Endless River』を想起させる美しくも儚い一枚に。フィル・マンザネラやロバート・ワイアットらとスタジオに入り、リチャード・ライトへ捧げる曲などを披露。初回盤にはそのライトとの秘蔵映像も収められ、彼の死から7年を経てもなお変わらぬ友情をアピールする姿が感動的だ。ゆったりと落ち着いた雰囲気のプログレ──ここには人生を重ねた男にしか出せない音がある!
