Kid Capri officially blew up the mix tape scene in New York back in the mid-to-late-'80s. Sure DJs had done it before, but Capri was the first to do it right, in a way that reached countless hip-hop listeners on the streets. With so many DJs subsequently expanding on the idea of releasing mix tapes as compilation albums, Kid Capri returns with his second album, SOUNDTRACK TO THE STREETS.
Handled almost as if Kid Capri were spinning at a party, SOUNDTRACK TO THE STREETS bumps from beginning to end. The album features talented artists from all over the country, most collaborating with other artists for the first time. Slick Rick and Snoop Dogg team up for "Unify," and The Lox and Foxy Brown join forces for "My Niggaz." Gems like Jay-Z's "Like That," Nas' title cut, and the album's freestyles make this mix-CD a classic.
