Audio Remasterer: Michael Worthington. A live album from a 1980 concert in Nashville, and one of the better Brown artifacts of the period, thanks in large part to the presence of the legendary Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley on sax and trombone, respectively. The song list covers the whole of Brown's career at the time, from his first single ("Please Please Please," from 1966) to what was then his most recent hit ("Too Funky in Here," from 1979). This was also the period when Brown was describing himself, with characteristic modesty, as "The Minister of New New Super Heavy Funk," and if nothing else, JAM '80 certainly makes the boast credible.
