Since the first volume landed way back in 2001, the Politics of Dancing series has blurred the lines between mix albums and producer albums, the producer in this case being superstar DJ Paul Van Dyk. The man that made "Trance" a household name produces or remixes most of the cuts here, including the key track "Lights," a Paul Van Dyk credited cut where the hyper, uptempo beat blends with Sue McLaren's haunting vocals for an almost eerie, time-warping contrast. Patrick Droney joins the producer for "What We're Livin' For," an indie pop-influenced, EDM-based floor filler, while the trance throwback "Around the Garden" is Van Dyk in remix mode as the original production comes from Mino Safy.
