1989's THIS ONE'S FOR THE LADIES, Young Fresh Fellows' fifth album, marks the first appearance of new guitarist Kurt Bloch. Original YFF guitarist Chuck Carroll departed after TOTALLY LOST, the Fellows' previous album. While Bloch assumed his new role, he continued to lead his own band, Seattle's long-running Fastbacks.
THIS ONE'S FOR THE LADIES is another rollicking set from the Fellows. Leader Scott McCaughey's great new songs include the stirring "Still There's Hope", the heavy "Rotation", and the wacky fun of "Taco Wagon". The Fellows' cover of The Kinks' "Picture Book" is perfect-played straight and faithful to the original. As always, the Fellows' combination of punk exuberance with pop smarts makes for an endearing and compellingly fun record.|
