Voodoo Guitar is a three-CD set of semi-legitimate Jimi Hendrix recordings: a disc of the sessions with Lonnie Youngblood, a disc of the sessions with Little Richard, and a disc of some of the PPX sessions with Curtis Knight. There has long been suspicion that the Little Richard and Lonnie Youngblood sessions are fakes; that is to say Jimi Hendrix probably does not actually appear on the recordings. He certainly was in Little Richard's band for a brief time, and may have jammed with Youngblood, but there is no proof that Hendrix is present on these sessions. Hendrix is definitely involved on the Curtis Knight material, but it's basically just an R&B woodshedding session with no actual Jimi Hendrix tunes. Hendrix fans should look to the official releases before trying this material out. ~ Sean Westergaard
