アーケイド・ファイアのウィル・バトラーが遂にソロ・デビュー!

『リフレクター』が全米英で1位を獲得し、第57回グラミー賞において「最優秀オルタナティヴ・アルバム」、「最優秀ミュージック・ビデオ」にノミネートされているアーケイド・ファイア。そのシンセを担当するウィル・バトラーが初のソロ名義アルバム『ポリシー』をリリース!アーケイド・ファイアからジェレミー・ギャラ(Dr)が参加!
ジミ・ヘンドリックスのエレクトリック・レディ・スタジオの上階にある古いリビングルームで1週間で制作された本作はヴァイオレント・ファムズ、ザ・ブリーダーズ、ザ・モダン・ラヴァーズ、ボブ・ディラン、スモーキー・ロビンソン、マグネティック・フィールズに代表されるアメリカン・ミュージックを彷彿とさせる仕上がりとなっている。

アーケイド・ファイアのシンセ担当、ウィル・バトラーが初のソロ・アルバムを発表した。サックスやピアノ、〈シャララ〉コーラスによってノスタルジックなムードを紡ぎながら、ロックンロール、フォーク・カントリー、バロック・ポップなど矢継ぎ早に放出。収録時間は30分弱と短めだけど、そのなかで映画「ロッキー・ホラー・ショー」のサントラみたいな、ストレンジな米国感を創出していく手腕は流石だ。
