マクスウェル・デイヴィスの1990年代の様々な作品を収録したアルバム。1995年作の「ベルテンの炎」は、当初は"振付詩"と銘打たれたBBCフィルと作曲家のコラボ作品。この初演は失敗に終わったが、曲は穏やかさと暴力的な面をかわるがわる示しながら盛り上がりを見せてくれる。うって変わって「潮の変わり目」は環境汚染の脅威を訴える作品であり、少年少女たちの無垢な声を用いて、静かな警鐘を鳴らすというもの。1991～1995年録音。 (C)RS
