グラスゴーの至宝、ベル・アンド・セバスチャンが4年ぶり9枚目のアルバム『ガールズ・イン・ピースタイム・ウォント・トゥ・ダンス』をリリース!
前作『ライト・アバウト・ラヴ～愛の手紙～』から約4年振りのオリジナル・アルバムとなる本作は、ナールズ・バークレイやアニマル・コレクティヴ で知られるベン・アレンのプロデュースのもとアトランタのメイズ・スタジオにてレコーディングとミキシングされ、マスタリングはアビイ・ロード・スタジオにて行われた。 1996年、スチュアート・マードックを中心にスコットランドはグラスゴーにて結成。インディ・ギター・ポップの流れを汲んだサウンドと珠玉のメロディが生み出すハーモニーで、唯一無比の地位を確立。数多くの作品をUKチャートに送り込んだ。また、マーキュリー・プライズやブリット・アワードなど数多くの名誉に輝いており、高い評価を得ている。その人気は衰えることなく、現在も多くの人々を虜にしている。

グラスゴー・シーンを大きく飛び越え、ビッグ・アーティストになってからずいぶん経つけど、こうやって気負いのない感じで新作を出してくれるのは嬉しい限り。音楽性の幅はさらに広がり、ソウルやファンク、バロック、そして打ち込みのニューウェイヴ/ユーロ・ポップまでいろいろな要素が入っていて、大掛かりなプロジェクトのようであるものの、歌詞の内容も含めてパーソナルな雰囲気を保っているのが良い。
