A Perfect Contradiction is the third release from theatrical songstress Paloma Faith. She began writing the record while in New York in 2013 and also worked with Plan B, Raphael Saadiq, and Diane Warren to pen more upbeat and uplifting songs. The soulful singer announced the release of her album to her fans with a short film on her website, which she narrated in Italian. そしてフィーチャリングで参加しているSigma feat. Paloma Faith「Changing」がUKチャート1位(2014/9/27付)。2014年は一段と評価を上げたパロマ・フェイスが、『A Perfect Contradiction』に収録されなかった4曲の新曲を追加し“アウトサイダーズ・エディション”としてリリースする。新たなシングル「Ready for the Good Life」もエッジ―でありながらポップで、期待を裏切らない。

3枚目の新作。ファレルが関わっているせいかチキチキしたビートがロビン・シック“Blurred Lines”っぽく聴こえて仕方ない冒頭曲をはじめ、ラファエル・サディークやジョン・レジェンドら制作者の顔ぶれからもこれまで以上にソウルを意識したことが窺えます。特にH=D=H作法のモータウン調、ダップ・キングスの助力が光るソリッドなファンク曲に、エイミー・ワインハウスの背中をひた向きに追う姿が見えますね。
