French folk star Maxime Le Forestier collected together 30 years' worth of music for his best-of collection, and the 20 songs he chose are a great representation of his career. With every song acting as a delicate web of plucked strings and Le Forestier's aching voice, the music here is fluid and consistent in a way that few other musicians can muster. Unlike American folk musicians from the same period, Le Forestier is a moody balladeer who prefers to croon a lonely tune than give into intense sentimentality or political barbs. Although the language barrier may stop some from enjoying this, this would probably go well on the shelf of any folk music fan. ~ Bradley Torreano
