Prolific American singer/songwriter Ryan Adams spent the years after his 2011 release Ashes & Fire placating an inner ear disorder that saw him cancel tours and prevented him working on music. Following successful hypnotherapy sessions, Adams decamped to his L.A. Pax-Am studios with bassist Tal Winkenfeld, drummer Jeremy Stacey, and guitarist/producer Mike Viola for his self-titled 14th release. The B-side to the album's first single, "Gimme Something Good," featured backing vocals and guitar work from Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp. ~ Scott Kerr
