The soundtrack to the original TOY STORY was a de facto (instrumental) solo album by composer Randy Newman, but for the sequel it's more of a mixed bag. The opening "Woody's Roundup" is a deadpan cowboy song (a la Newman's "Blue Shadows on the Trail," from THE THREE AMIGOS) rendered here by retro quartet Riders in the Sky in high Sons of the Pioneers style. Lilith Fair folkie Sara McLachlan does a beautiful job with Newman's "When She Loved Me," one of his most haunting Aaron Copland-meets-Fats Domino songs ever. And Robert Goulet does a suitably Vegas reprise of "You've Got a Friend in Me" from the first film. The rest (save for a concluding lite-jazz instrumental version of "Friend") is rather gorgeous, mock-heroic film music that would have made first-generation movie composer Alfred Newman (Randy's uncle) extremely proud.
録音 : ステレオ (Studio)
