Williamson has long been fascinated with the storytelling traditions entwined throughout his Celtic heritage. This is the first of two volumes in which Williamson recounts old tales. "Tale of Culwich and Olwen" is the disc's centerpiece, clocking in at over 48 minutes, with Williamson's harp setting a gentle stage for the spoken text. This timeless tale resonates with issues that continue to drive us all: love and longing, honor and adventure. On the shorter instrumental that rounds the album out ("Aden Ffwynach"), Williamson utilizes keyboards and instruments from his vast acoustic array of whistles, dulcimer, guitars, and percussion. The four-minute piece is a welcome inclusion that brings the volume to a fitting close.
