Here's a misleading but serviceable anthology from the UMG-distributed Thump label. On a pedantic level, the name of the band is Bar-Kays, not the Bar Kays. More problematic is that the release consists of material released during the band's late-'70s and early-'80s period on the Mercury label, while the front and back sleeve photos, which originate from the '60s/'70s Volt era, indicate otherwise. As a summation of the Mercury releases, it's fine. It includes "Too Hot to Stop," "Move Your Boogie Body," "Boogie Body Land," "Hit and Run," and "(Do It) Let Me See You Shake," all of which were Top Ten R&B hits. ~ Andy Kellman
