This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ Chris Walsh. Audio Mixer: Chris Walsh . Editor: Chris Walsh . K-Tel's Digital Empire compilation series is actually a fairly decent look at the more mainstream, accessible side of electronic dance music. This installment, Digital Empire: Techno Anthems, contains a number of classics from the style's early days in America and Britain. Legendary Detroit pioneers Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May are both here, with their respective classics "Big Fun" (recorded as Inner City) and "Nude Photo" (by Rythim Is Rythim [sic]). Other essential items include Aphex Twin's "Digeridoo," Moby's "Go," and Joey Beltram's "Energy Flash"; plus, there are tracks from Yello, Cabaret Voltaire, Wink, Armand Van Helden, and Richie Hawtin's F.U.S.E. project.
