Disky's Best of Mel & Kim presents 14 tracks from the dance-pop duo masterminded by Stock, Aitken & Waterman's production machine. Debuting with the biggest hit of their career, "Respectable," Mel & Kim only recorded one album before the death of Mel Appleby in 1990, but their greatest-hits volumes reveal them as one of the more reliable (faint praise though it is) assembly-line pop groups of the late '80s. "Respectable" is of course here, as are lesser hits "Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)" and "F.L.M.," plus surprisingly solid album tracks like "That's the Way It Is," "From a Whisper to a Scream," and "More Than Words Can Say." ~ John Bush
