The Bollock Brothers' earlier live album Live Performances was energetic and had a well-chosen song list, but was poorly recorded. Live in Public in Private has a much beefier sound, and these renditions boast more prominent guitars and background vocals. Unfortunately, while the sound may be better, the performances are lackluster and the song selection is poor. Of the album's eight tracks, three are covers: two Alex Harvey songs, "Faith Healer" and "Midnight Moses," and Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" (in a version which proves once and for all that the novelty value of covering this old chestnut in a silly way evaporated long ago). The remaining originals are the Bollocks' least interesting songs. Only "Count Dracula Where's Yer Troosers," which sounds like a rowdy soccer sing-along, is particularly memorable.
