From the inevitable, catchy-as-hell lead-off cut "Crush," you'd be forgiven for thinking Jennifer Paige was a dance-pop diva in the mold of early Madonna (not that there's anything wrong with that, especially when it's done this well). Digging a little deeper into Paige's debut recording, though, it becomes clear that there's much more than rump-shaking on her agenda. For proof of her stylistic versatility, check out the pretty acoustic ballad "Always You" or the slightly Alanis-sounding alt-rock drive of "Questions." Paige's clear, emotive voice serves her well, whatever the style, and JENNIFER PAIGE is a debut recording full of promise.
