In 2014, the U.K.'s Expansion label followed their 2012 combination reissue of the Main Ingredient's fifth and sixth albums (Euphrates River/Afrodisiac) with similar treatment of the group's Rolling Down a Mountainside (1975) and Music Maximus (1976). Between the two albums, three singles hit Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart: "The Good Old Days," the Top Ten "Rolling Down a Mountainside," and "Instant Love" -- the latter two of which were written by Jacqueline Hilliard and Leon Ware. There's a handful of deep minor gems as well. The earlier set fared significantly better commercially than the latter one, but both have value for serious '70s soul fans. A straightforward two-for-one package, this doesn't contain any bonus tracks. ~ Andy Kellman

キューバ・グッティングを擁し一流ソウル・グループとしての地位を確固たるものとしていたメイン・イングリーディエント70年代中期の2作がカップリングでともに初CD化!ネタとしても重要度の高いグループとして有名なメイン・イングリーディントですが、この2作品も勿論多数収録。「That Ain't My Style」「Car Of Love」「Half A Chance」などはまさに定番と言ってもよいでしょう。一方「Rolling Down A Mountain Side」「Instant Love」らのリオン・ウェア作品を取り上げているのも人気の大きな要因として挙げられます。キューバ・グッティングのソフトでジェントリーな声、雰囲気がリオン楽曲に合うのは当たり前。もちろんその他の曲も粒が揃っており、70年代ボーカル・グループ作品の人気盤2作初リイシューは多くのソウル・リスナーに歓迎されることでしょう!
