NYブルックリンを拠点に活躍する女性シンガーソングライター、セイント・ヴィンセントが＜Loma Vista＞レーベル移籍第1弾となる4thアルバム『セイント・ヴィンセント』をリリース!約2年半振りとなる本作は彼女の過去作品を多く手掛けてきたジョン・コングルトンをプロデューサーに迎え制作された。彼女が奏でる独特で癖のあるギターのメロディーとヴォーカル・ハーモニーは本作でも健在。パーカッションにマッケンジー・スミス(ミッドレイク)とホーマー・スタインワイス(シャロン・ジョーンズ・アンド・ザ・ダップキングス)を迎え過去最高にゴージャスでエレガントなアルバムが完成した!世界中の年間ベスト総なめにし、NYタイムズ誌からは「今年のベスト盤」と高評価を得た前作『ストレンジ・マーシー』(全米19位)で一躍スターダムへと上り詰めた彼女。自身のキャリアを押し上げる事となった、デヴィッド・バーン&セイント・ヴィンセント名義のコラボ・アルバム『ラヴ・ディス・ジャイアント』(2012年)はミュージック・マガジン「アメリカ/カナダ部門」4位を始め、名立たる音楽メディアの年間ベスト上位を獲得。更に第55回グラミー賞へノミネートされ話題をさらった。

American songstress St. Vincent returned to her solo work with a self-titled album following her hugely successful 2012 collaboration with David Byrne. After arranging and demoing tracks in Austin, Texas, she headed to Dallas with producer John Congleton (the Walkmen, Modest Mouse, Amanda Palmer) to record the final tracks. The album brings together a mixture of acoustic and electronic elements, with drummers Homer Steinweiss from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Midlake's McKenzie Smith contributing rhythms.|

風変わりなアイデアを女性ならではの優雅さでポップに表現させたら右に出る者はいないセイント・ヴィンセントが、デヴィッド・バーンとの共演盤を挿んで2年半ぶりの新作を発表。今回はダップ・キングスのドラマーに全面協力を要請し、グルーヴ感たっぷりのファンキーな音を鳴らしています。キレッキレのギター・プレイも凄まじく、本人が言うところの「葬式でかけられるパーティー・レコード」に仕上がっていますよ。
