An excellent collaboration album between the legendary Tokyo noise guitarist and Fushitsusha frontman Keiji Haino and French avant-garde guitarist Jean Francios Pauvros. Venturing into dark, extended improvisations, the duo seems set on summoning black clouds of noise from their instruments and sculpting music out of flaming guitar noise and effects overdrive. While the Tokyo noise guitarist is a legend of avant-garde music and a frequent and enthusiastic collaborator, he often leaves little space for his partners to work. His signature sound is so distinctive as to be overpowering; this is where this album is flawed -- the musicians are always struggling to accommodate ideas. Being that it is improvisation, it often abides by the tendency to drift into oblique abstraction. ~ Skip Jansen
