Seawind's two A&M-era albums, Light the Light (1979) and Seawind (1980), are combined on this 2014 release from the soulmusic.com label. In 2011, the albums appeared individually on CD in Japan, but this set makes them more affordable and adds extensive liner notes from Kevin Goins. The earlier album, technically released on short-lived A&M subsidiary Horizon, peaked at number eight on Billboard's jazz chart, while its "Hold on to Love" was a minor R&B hit. The self-titled album was produced by George Duke. It generally fared as well, with the first two songs also minor charting hits. Recommended for anyone who makes time for contemporaneous releases from the likes of Angela Bofill, Minnie Riperton, Patrice Rushen, Hiroshima, and Judy Roberts. ~ Andy Kellman
