With a bare-bones style that allows the heart and soul of the music to shine, Cowboy Nation brings "Old Paint" and "Cowboy's Lament" to a whole new audience. Harlan Howard's "The Blizzard" is a standout, as is the movie tune "My Rifle, My Pony and Me," originally sung by everyone's favorite cowboy, Dean Martin. Of their new material, "Cowboy Nation," a theme song of sorts, is satisfying, as is "Way Out West" and "Cowboy Way." For listeners who have never been exposed to cowboy music, this is a tremendous opportunity to learn all about it at the feet of a trio of fine players.
