This 30-song anthology of Britain's classic pop duo bears the distinction of having been compiled by band founder Ben Watt himself. Emerging in the early '80s from the "jazz lite" movement, Everything But the Girl released seven studio albums in the decade covered by this two-disc compilation, which is bookended by material from two of their most revered releases: their jazzy 1984 debut Eden and 1994's eclectic Amplified Heart. Jumping from guitar pop to country to samba and beyond, Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt found their success by blending deft production and strong songwriting, no matter what genre they chose.
