Released in the U.K., The Very Best of the S.O.S. Band is a two-disc, 25-track overview that covers the group's studio albums from 1980's S.O.S. through 1991's One of Many Nights. Almost all the charting singles, such as the U.S. R&B Top Ten hits "Take Your Time (Do It Right)," "Just Be Good to Me," "Tell Me If You Still Care," "Just the Way You Like It," "The Finest," and the post-Mary Davis "I'm Still Missing Your Love," are included in some form. Plenty of room is allowed for album cuts, and the choices are generally smart. Versions of certain picks seem a bit arbitrary, split between album versions and single edits, and some material sounds as if it was mastered from vinyl. ~ Andy Kellman
