Essentially a Cliff Notes version of his 2013 album Lift Your Spirit, Aloe Blacc transitions his soul from retro to neo with Wake Me Up. Featuring the titular track, itself an acoustic cover of an Avicii track where Blacc's vocals went uncredited, as well as four other tracks (including another single, "The Man") from the album, this EP treats casual listeners to a bite-sized chunk of his previous full-length, though a lack of bonus material or alternate takes makes this a largely perfunctory release for anyone who already owns Lift Your Spirit. ~ Gregory Heaney
