Buckcherry defied expectations by not turning into a one-hit wonder. That one hit would've been 1999's "Lit Up," a number one Mainstream Rock hit at the tail-end of post-grunge, but the L.A. quartet managed to carve a career out of peddling their Sunset Strip sleaze and saw their biggest hits arrive in the mid-2000s, when "Crazy Bitch" dominated modern and mainstream rock radio for a couple months, followed by the crossover hit "Sorry" a couple months later. These three songs are naturally the core of the 2013 compilation Best of Buckcherry, a 12-track collection that contains almost all of their singles (the notable exception is the disowned 2008 tune "Too Drunk
"). The Best of Buckcherry won't change the mind of any skeptic, but anybody who loved the group's dirty, old-fashioned rock & roll will find this highlights the group at their peak. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine|
