though popmeister Tobin Sprout is probably best known for being one half Pollard/Sprout song writing tag-team, he's also capable of taking a song to the mat on his own. The dirge-like opener, "Smokey Joe's Perfect Hair" might take you down a notch, but this is a disc full of easy going, relaxed jangle. While there's nothing as rousing as "It's Like Soul, Man" (from both CARNEVAL BOY and GBV's "UNDER THE BUSHESa) on this release, the infectious charm of songs like "And Then The Crowd Showed Up" is irresistible. "Digging Up Wooden Teeth" sounds like a lost psychedelic-era Paul McCartney classic. A perfect example of pure, singalong popcraft.|
