A vastly entertaining, stylistically wide-ranging collection of R&B tunes recorded by William Bell and various duet partners between 1967 and 1974. The inspiration was "Tramp," Otis Redding's hit duet with Carla Thomas; after Redding's death, Stax Records tried to replicate the formula with Bell and various other singers, including Mavis Staples.
Standout tracks include the opening "Love-Eye-Tis," with Judy Clay, which has a classic Memphis funk feel a la Sam and Dave's "Soul Man." There's also a lush and deeply-felt cover of the Everly Brothers' ballad "All I Have to Do is Dream" with Carla Thomas, and "Let Me Ride," a Bell solo effort that sounds like Otis Redding fronting the Rolling Stones.
録音 : ステレオ (Studio)
