Phoenix, Arizona-based post-hardcore band Eyes Set to Kill signed to Century Media in the summer of 2012 and shortly thereafter entered the studio to work on their fifth full-length album, Masks. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Alexia Rodriguez spoke of the album's title in interviews, saying it was inspired by her feelings of the band trying to impress various factions by wearing masks, and the process of shedding those masks is touched on throughout the album. The album was made with producer Steve Evetts, who worked in the past with such heavy steppers as the Dillinger Escape Plan and Suicide Silence.
