If anything could be considered a sleeper among the most recent Fantasy Legends of Gospel line, that might be the CD featuring Rev. Cleophus Robinson. The Reverend cut several songs for Riverside's subsidiary Battle label, which didn't last very long. After more than 30 years, these songs are again available, and its fire and fury might surprise those looking for sedate, reverential praise tracks. Rev. Robinson was a shouter and wailer, although he could also do mournful, moving ballads. But the uptempo stompers are the cuts to savor among the 28, with Rev. Robinson's rippling voice getting more and more hypnotic as it goes up the ladder. ~ Ron Wynn
