EVERYBODY'S BLUES features material culled from three recording sessions for Detroit's Sensation Records, spanning the years 1950 to 1954. EVERYBODY'S BLUES captures John Lee Hooker in full command of his signature guitar sound. Now digitally remastered, EVERYBODY'S BLUES shows Hooker, even early in his career, as an artist who refuses to be hemmed in by conventions of the time. Of the 20 tracks on EVERYBODY'S BLUES, only two were initially released by Sensation, because the label's owner was allegedly bewildered by Hooker's jagged, loose and idiosyncratic style. Over the years, 14 of the 20 songs recorded for these sessions have been released in one form or another. Longtime fans will enjoy the half-dozen previously unreleased cuts. Of special interest is the slow and menacing blues ache of "Locked Up In Prison Blues," which rivals Hooker's slow-cooking classic "Wednesday Evening Blues."
