what`s going はなるほど素晴らしいイシューとテーマ性を持った文化的政治的に記念碑的な作品だとは間違いなく思うが、何より重要なのは軽やかで神秘的で楽しい音楽の世界である。what's going onの歌詞は正直言ってマーヴィンゲイのあの音楽がなければ陳腐な詩だが、あの軽やかなメロディーになったことで言葉で言い表せない説得力を持っている

マーヴィンゲイ自身は勿論天才なんだけど、この時代が作品を完成させてるように思えます!この時代の悲惨さ、そしてその感情を曲で伝えようとする思いがこのアルバムには詰まっています!!
音楽という枠組みを超えて、歴史を考える際に重要な作品だと感じます!!
