Trans-Continental Hustle

ジプシー・パンク・バンド=Gogol Bordelloの5枚目のアルバムで、メジャー・レーベルからの初のリリースになる。バンドのフロントマンであるEugene Hutzが、自身が2008年まで住んでいたブラジルでの日々にインスピレーションを得て書かれた作品がメインになっている。プロデューサーのリック・ルービンとは、Rage Against the Machine の Tom Morelloの紹介で出会っている。 Tom Morelloがロサンゼルスで行われたGogol Bordelloのライヴを見て、「ぜひ見た方がいい」とリック・ルービンに推薦。その後ライヴを見てこのコラボレーションが実現したという経緯がある。ライヴの素晴らしさには定評があり、2008年にはフジロック、翌2009年にはサマーソニックに参戦を果たしている。

ユージン・ハッツの課外活動も手伝って注目度もウナギ昇り。メジャー移籍&リック・ルービンがプロデュース！と気付けばスケールもデカくなっていますが…　ゴーゴルはゴーゴルで。ジプシー音楽をベースにしたお祭りサウンドは今回も猥雑にハッスル。ブラジル音楽に接近したり、アフリカンなムードもアクセントにしたりとアプローチの幅も広がりました。でもやっぱり沸々と湧き上がる果てしない物悲しさが彼らの魅力！
