Musical explorers Kaiser and Lindley follow their successful adventures in Madagascar with a journey to Norway. This is the second volume yielded by that trip. As with VOLUME 1, the disc is filled with music Kaiser and Lindley recorded with local musicians in the mountains and valleys of the country in "the sweet sunny North." Bright fiddles, native harps, and assorted stringed instruments play the distinctive instrumental and vocal music of Norway's rich heritage. Electric guitars and brass bands even put in appearances.
The wide diversity of THE SWEET SUNNY NORTH is at once bracing and completely natural. Kaiser and Lindley both show up occasionally, contributing sounds both characteristic of their styles as well as new. The music is decidedly modern at times, and the sympathetic production finds the right setting for each piece. This is wonderfully warm and engaging music, full of invention and passion.
