One of the most successful Irish folk singers in history, Tommy Makem worked tirelessly to breathe new life into traditional music. Eventually settling in New York City, he and his cohorts, the Clancy Brothers, are largely responsible for the popularization of Celtic music in the United States. On his own, Makem is every bit as effective as an interpreter of Irish songs. He has the ability to sing with great range and emotional depth, and his choice of material provides a strong cross section of the repertoire available.
Highlights on ROLLING HOME include "Brendan" a song about a sixth century saint known as Brendan the Navigator because of his love of the sea. "The Boys of Mullaghbawn" is an eighth century song about Makem's own South Armagh and "Long Winter's Night" is a joyous tune about enjoying and savoring those long, tedious, wintry evenings.
録音 : ステレオ (Studio)
