Includes a DVD. Recorded live in the Windy City during the fall of 2003, this Ween outing features the group in full rock mode. Focusing mostly on material from the prior decade, vocalist/guitarists Dean and Gene Ween guide their trusty band on a journey to both the weirdest and poppiest corners of their strange musical world. "Take Me Away" is a thoroughly appropriately opener, replete with jazzy rhythms and a warm, welcome-to-the-Ween-show vibe. Before long, Dean and Gene launch into a trio of their most straightforward songs--the majestic "Transdermal Celebration," the Beatlesque "Even If You Don't," and the funky "Voodoo Lady," the latter of which turns into a distortion-filled jam. Of course, Ween doesn't play it off legit for long; soon they descend into the sick humor of "Spinal Meningitis Got Me Down" and other socially irresponsible ditties. As always, the band's finest songs balance melody and absurdity, expertly illustrated by tunes such as the Prince-inspired "Roses Are Free" and the dreamy "Zoloft." The CD also includes a DVD of the concert that presents nine additional songs.
