In 1994, when the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Spin Doctors, and other funk-influenced alternative rock groups had co-opted the greasy grooves pioneered by James Brown and George Clinton, the time was ripe for an old-school master to show the younguns how it's done. Naturally, Bootsy Collins stepped up to the plate, delivering a righteous slab of funk-o-delica that recalled the heyday of Parliament et al.
