Continuing the steady electro-R&B sound prominent on Gettin' Ready, this sophomore outing adds touches of pop and includes more memorable, hook-smart tunes. On the downside, the lead vocal duties aren't split as much, but Karon Floyd proves herself flexible and strong enough for all the material she's given. The most impressive selections are the moving, mid-tempo "C'est la Vie"; "Shattered Glass," a driving pop-dance number with leads by Tina Scott and Roberta Stiger; and the understated yet danceable title track. Talk of the Town is the group's most consistently entertaining set. Sadly, founding group member D'Marie Warren was killed in a car crash before the album's release, though she can be heard throughout the set. ~ Justin M. Kantor|
