ウルスラ・マムロック作品集第4弾。マムロックはドイツ出身で現在はアメリカで活動している作曲家、教育者。ニューヨークでジョージ・セル、ロジャー・セッションズらに師事、初期はヒンデミットの影響を受け、やがて新ウィーン楽派の影響を受けるようになった。12音、無調を中心とした作風だが、ベルク同様、背景には微妙な調性感が漂っており、そこには独自のほの暗い抒情性が感じられる。このアルバムでは当年とって90歳の女流作曲家の初期から今日までの代表的な室内楽が収められている。
