The Still Life is the third record from Alessi Laurent-Marke, better known as Alessi's Ark. The British singer/songwriter decamped to Athens, Georgia, USA to work with producer Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes, Azure Ray, Drive-By Truckers), who facilitated her migration from acoustic guitar-led music to the diverse and atmospheric sounds found here. Her distinct vocals and subtle delivery are exploited wonderfully throughout by the warm instrumentation that surrounds them.|
