One could go on forever about the No Limit label's impact on late-'90s rap, or fawn over the stellar guest list here (Snoop Dogg and Master P just for starters), but that would mean ignoring the forest for the trees. Gambino Family are very much a part of the No Limit milieu, but GHETTO ORGANIZED needs no fancy friends to make its case. The members of this hip-hop quartet are obsessed with pop culture, coming to the gangsta image mostly through media association, and name-checking the likes of Bill Cosby and Michelle Pfeiffer. They're capable of employing propulsive, syncopated beats to back up their deft tag-team approach to rapping. And though they come off as hard-edged hoods, there's enough introspection and depth in their worldview to convince you there's more beneath the surface.
